Rum

I didn't put OT in front, because if this isn't ON topic I don't know what is!

The dark and stormy, yoo hoo, moxie comments in that most excellent thread re: old farts, made me think of rum. Picture Homer Simpson saying, Ruuum.

I had an Appleton Estate rum that I brought home from Jamaica in a life a long time ago. I'm not an accomplished alcohol drinker, but I enjoyed this rum straight ( could have had more to do with the cute blonde I was drinking with). Normally I hide the taste of alcohol in whatever I can.

What is your favorite rum to drink neat? And just to keep it honest do you ever drink rum while on your boat?

My most favorite rum is Havana Club 7 year Old Dark Rum, to drink neat.

I NEVER drink alcohol on any boat. I wait for after meals on shore. It would take a whole year for me to drink one bottle of rum.

Gawd, how I remember doing shots of Bacardi 151 rum in college.....and how the room would spin afterwards when I hit the sack. *JimH*

I had a girlfriend in my early adult life who shared margaritas with me and we always added a shot of 151 to each. Maybe that's why my stomach hurts these days ... Bryan

Barbon - Court. It can be very hard to find, and there are several grades using a system of stars on the label. 4 stars is awesome stuff. I'm not a big rum drinker, but when I find this stuff, I buy a case to keep around for entertaining. People who are used to the more common "premium" brands like Pusser, etc., are shocked at the difference.

I don't drink rum often, but any and all drinking on my boat takes place at the end of the sail, not during. That includes passengers. In a possible emergency, EVERYONE needs to be sober and alert. Just having a "designated driver" is not enough on a boat.
