Pirates attack cruise ship off Somalia

According to CNN, two 25-foot boats with a total of eight people aboard tried to overtake a large cruise ship. The captain of the cruise liner reported that the ship was attacked with an RPG, as well as a barrage of small arms fire.

The captain attempted to collide with one of the small boats to cause it to break up or capsize, but was unable to do so.

In the end, the cruise ship merely "outran" the pirates, and there were no reports of any injuries among the passengers or crew.

(My brother in law sailed on oil tankers for about 25 years. He was attacked by pirates on a couple of ocassions, and in both cases the crew were able to repel attempting boardings with a fire hose.)
