Donzi!

I'm thinking about buying at 1988 Donzi Regatta 25' It has 400 hours a rebuilt outdrive, new batteries and appears immaculate. Complete with a double axel trailer with surge brakes. The asking price is $15,000 with a permanent slip in a local Yacht club thrown in. Is this a good deal? David

Without knowing what actual condition the boat is in, it would appear to be somewhere in the upper echelon of asking prices for similar Donzis. One of the biggest variables is the value of the slip in the yacht club. Is this moorage something you own after paying a lump sum, or do you merely get the right to rent the slip each month at market value? If the slips are selling for $5-10k, for example, and the boat is without serious defect then it would seem like a no-brainer. If there is no real value to the slip other than convenience, you have a right to look over that offering with a high powered light and a magnifying glass, (survey, survey, survey, of course) as the seller is pretty proud of his boat and you want to be sure that pride is justified.
