| Well..... I used to work in a company where the GM's favorite
statement was, "This ain't no F*cking Utopia." The bay isn't great,
but it is a hell of a lot better than I remember it in the 60's. The pressures of population increases and corporate profits are going
to have to be measured against protecting our planet. For those that
don't hunt, fish, or partake of outdoor recreation..... and those that
have more appreciation for profit than natural beauty...... well,
protecting, spending the money necessary, and forgoing profit just
seems absolutely silly. Maybe more education is in order. Maybe we need to make a better case
for the economic benefits of conservation, tourism, fishing, hunting,
etc..... ..... but the bay? Well, it is on the mend..... it just needs a renewed
commitment of effort, infusion of money, and more stringent controls
on the effluent that finds it's way into the bay....
