Twin hull - aluminium or fibreglass?

Hi folks,

I'm currently in the market for a new boat .. I'm looking closely at a twin hull (shark cat) aluminium ..

Going on the conflicting advice I've had from other people, I sense this might be a firy topic, but .. just after anyone's opinions on the difference between going for aluminium or fibreglass? I've heard there are issues with aluminium if you drop a sinker (or anything metal) - but I'm not so sure this would be a problem when buying a boat with a carpeted floor.

Any / all advice appreciated!

Cheers,

Matt

I have an aluminum boat and it is fine. Just do not drop copper in to the bilge and leave it there. Most big aluminum boats have floors, and they stand up to dropped weights better than most fiberglass boats. My floors are vinyl covered wood, but even the aluminum floors are ok, just noisier. Acquaintance has a Noosacat from Oz, and he fishes salmon just fine and we just 203# balls of lead. Calif
