Finally getting regular service from the post-panamax container ships. A
few years ago Halifax went head to head with New York & Baltimore to be
the main port of call on this side of the Atlantic for these giant
ships. Although we had the physical advantage, Al Gore had the Army
Corps of Engineers dredge New York Harbour which helped it win.
I'll have to get down to the waterfront on Saturday to see it squeeze
below our two harbour bridges on it's way to the Ceres terminal in the
Bedford Basin.
(note: our southern terminals (Halterm) have no such barriers to ships
of any size...including the Queen Mary 2, post-Panamax container ships
or Nimitz size a/carriers.

you might have wanted to explain what a post-panamex vessel is.
ill save you time - its a vessel that cannot pass through the panama
canal.
