Top Ten Boat Names For 2005

And no, popular taste is *not* improving....

February 1, 2006

BoatU.S., the nation's largest recreational boat owners association, announced today its "2005 Top Ten List of Most Popular Boat Names" as selected by boaters across the country. For the first time ever a Spanish language name, "Pura Vida," which means "pure life," made the list. Pura Vida appeared fifth on the 2005 list, with returning Seas the Day, Aquaholic, and Island Time taking the top three spots, respectively. BoatU.S. has been compiling the list since 1991.

"Whether you speak Spanish or simply have a Latin surname, hispanic boaters are becoming an ever-increasing part of recreational boating," said BoatU.S. President Jim Ellis. "Boating crosses all cultural lines, and as population demographics shift in America, each new group bound by language, region or history is discovering the fun and enjoyment boating offers all of us."

The "2005 Top Ten List of Most Popular Boat Names" is as follows:

1) Seas The Day 2) Aquaholic 3) Island Time 4) Dragonfly 5) Pura Vida 6) Encore 7) Black Pearl 8) Destiny 9) Serenity Now 10) License to Chill

The list is compiled annually by the BoatU.S. Graphics & Lettering department that produces custom boat graphics. The easy-to-use online service allows boaters to get ideas from a library containing over 7400 names, custom design and preview graphics, insert stock logos, and view photos of the finished product.
