Honda Outboards have the JD Powers award for a second year........

Honda Marine Recognized By J.D. Power And Associates

ALPHARETTA, Ga., February 16, 2006 - Honda Marine today announced

that its EFI engines ranked "Highest in Customer Satisfaction with

Four-Stroke Engines" in the J.D. Power and Associates 2006 Marine Engine

Competitive Information Studysm. The study reports Honda Marine outboard

engines scoring 913 out of a possible 1,000 points. Presented Thursday

during a special ceremony at the Miami International Boat Show, the event

marks the second consecutive year that Honda Marine has secured this honor.

The study also indicates that boat owners are increasingly aware that

higher-technology engines deliver a superior overall boating experience,

and that there is an increased demand for quiet, efficient, clean-running

engines.

"J.D. Power and Associates' recognition is a testament to Honda

Marine's commitment to customer service, dealer excellence and superior

product performance," said John Fulcher, senior manager, Honda Marine.

"From automobiles to outboard engines, Honda extends its proud legacy of

technological innovation and leadership."

Best known for its work in the automotive industry, J.D. Power and

Associates has, in recent years, expanded to serve a number of other

industries, including marine engines.

Well - just so you know, I spent $1000 fixing my 2001 4 stroke honda last year when the circuit board went out. This engine had 130 hours on it. I thought Honda's were bullet proof, but not always - in addition Honda performed 6 different re-call operations on that engine (those were done for free) - pretty major ones too. My 4stroke is not EFI. The $1000 involved the Honda dealer getting my boat to them and then dropping it off. Here is the sheriff towing my bennington after it broke down:

I spoke to several friends in the business at the last boat show, these are people I know for years, they know I'm not in the market for a boat. They all said the same thing, if you want a four stroke (and most said they wouldn't buy one themselves, 2 stroke fuel injected was what they would go) the one to buy is the Verado. What surprised me the most, the one every one said to stay away from because of problems, the 250 HP four stroke Yamaha. I'm not sure if it's the fuel in my area causing the problem.
