Snippy is reliving his years as pocket pool champion of SE Kansas.

The only other event of note in SE Kansas is the Green Parrot Bar in Galena, a real dive, with, when I was there 40 something years ago, the oldest mechanical condom vending machine in the United States.

I had been spending a short vacation with a college buddy who lived on a small farm in Joplin, MO, and out of boredom one night, we headed over to the Green Parrot, got rip-roaring drunk, borrowed a few cafeteria trays, and went sliding down the chat piles. A deputy found us, thought we were too drunk and disorderly to drive home, and offered us a room for the night.

Those were the days, my friend.
