Fitzmas Troll

Bored?

Oh well, at least you're demonstrating that blatant trolling isn't exclusively a right wing practice these days.

WHY??

The most avid supporters of the administration continue to believe that they are right and all others are wrong. The situation we now perceive is "just a temporary setback, part of the master plan, etc etc etc."

Even if this might be a dark hour for the conservatives, if it a suitable topic for rec.boats? We were all wrong to semi-destroy this group in the past with political bullshit. Being on one side or the other at this or any other point in time doesn't grant license to destroy it again.

Why does your need to "crow" trump the common good? People on either the left side of the spectrum or the right side of the spectrum can point to OT posts put up by the other side and say "I'm justified because Poster X did the same thing last week......"

My question to all: "Aren't you a lot smarter, more mature, and far more socially responsible than those darn ...(fill in the blank with "liberals" or "conservatives", your choice)..... or are they so admirable in their behavior that you feel the need to emulate them?

And you should have stopped it right there. You know how the name calling starts, and your desire to rub noses is the way to do it.

You're a bigger person than that. -- 'Til next time,

I must be a small person. Sometimes, the only effective method of alerting people to their horrendous mistakes is to rub their noses in it without mercy. JoeSpareBedroom

As long as it's about boating, noses *should* be rubbed! -- 'Til next time,

The problem with starting threads like this is that before very long the discussion becomes pretty heated. As we demonstrated for several years in this NG, once the discussion becomes heated the gloves come off and some ordinarily fairly pleasant people turn into volcanic assholes that spew endless streams of crap into the NG. Worse yet, the behavior isn't limited to threads (like yours) that are obvious trolls. If Individual X is a frequent jouster in the OT political flame wars, every time Individual X makes a comment in an on-topic thread his or her antagonists wade into the mix with personal attacks and accusations that are totally unrelated to any on-topic subject the group is trying to discuss.

It's one thing to browse through the group and decide to "skip over" trolls like yours, and if all the OT bullshit were restricted to the OT threads the only nuisance would be having to pick and choose through the long list of political headers to find the very few threads that relate to the nominal subject of the group. (Have you noticed the greater number of people participating in the group and the greater number of boating related threads since more of us began exercising self control a few months ago?)

If you carry a skunk in your right hand, and a rose in your left, the general proximity of the skunk may make it difficult to enjoy the pleasant aroma of the rose. Sure, you can argue that "they're in different hands", just like some threads are marked OT, but the behavior in the OT political threads isn't confined to those threads and their mere presence here attracts a group of non-boaters who are so dedicated to promoting their own political talking points that they have no respect for an on-topic, boating related thread.
