Carburetor problems?
I've got a 1972 Correct Craft Skier with a Ford 302 (Waukesha). I took
it out the other day and it ran fine for 45 minutes or so, then we shut
it down for a picnic. When I started it again, I had difficulty
getting it going. It started (with a little trouble), but then when
you gave it gas it died. With lots of coaxing, I got it going, but
then I had no power (engine was kind of sputtering).Does this sound like a carburetor? It's got a Holley carb. If I know that the carburetor is the problem, can I remove just the
carb and bring it in for a rebuild? Recommendations? Thanks! |

| Thanks much for your response! One followup question, if I may: If this pattern repeats itself (runs good for 45 minutes, then have
problems), wouldn't that exclude things like fueld filter, water in
gas, fuel hose? |

| are you in a high humidity area. sounds more like vapor lock to me (the
running good for 45 minutes is a pretty good sign of that). Carbeurator rebuild will help. |

| I'm in Minnesota. Summers can be pretty humid, although I don't recall
about that day. Is a carb rebuild the best fix for vapor lock? |

| Just like the last guy, you probably have water in your gas that you washed
off the top of your gas tank when you went out for the first 45 minutes. Try
to put "heat: in your gas. Not too much or they say you will dry out your
seals. You might have to dry the bowl in your carb and change your fuel
filter (it is paper and probably is your biggest problem right now).
