prop

I've got an issue with my old merc prop. I can't get it off. Its from the late 60's and since I got it I've never had it off due to this issue. The Nut you'd think was seized on. Any tips?

Thanks

Somebody answer him quickly, please. I've got some nuts from the 60's that seem harder to get off as well. :-) Chuck

Try this, Chuck. Hopefully it comes in the right amount for you!

Yes, 55 gallons should last most of a season, and could be useful when preparing to go "on the hard" for an entire winter. Chuck

PB Blaster, breaker bar, 20# of weight and the appropriate deep wall socket.

Liberal dose of PB Blaster, install the breaker bar and socket, block the prop from turning, install the weight and wait a day or two.

Should come right off.

Alternatively, use a impact wrench - there are really good electric ones that work very well and they are relatively inexpensive.

Sometimes there's nothing wrong with a few (specific sorts of) squeals. Chuck
