Tilt/Trim Motor Getting Extremly Hot, Bonding wires melting

My Tilt/Trim motor gets very hot after only cycling the engine the full range a couple of times. also the bonding wires on my outboard are getting extremly hot and melting the insulation. None of this occurs on my other engine. I'm wondering if the motor ismessed up and is shorting out... if so what do I replace? Armature, brushes, breaker, springs??? Thanks

Sounds like it is drawing too much. Since it's still working I'd check to see if something is binding causing it to have to work harder before suspecting the motor.

I had to replace the o-ring in teh trim cylinder, and this did not start happening unil i ran the engine for a while bleeding the air, only to find out i didnt have enough fluid in it to begin with. Could a piece of teh o-ring be in there some where still, i did not see a way for and pieces to go beyond the cylinder, and it was cleaned out before i put the piston back in.

Your T/T motor is pulling some serious amps. Swap it out. JR

Check the basics first. Are you sure the motor is properly grounded? No snave
