Removing stains
What is the best thing to remove stains on white fiberglass near the water
line. This
boat has been moored in a freshwater river full of mud and pollutants. Tried
scouring powder, and it could not do a complete job. |

| Barkeeper's Friend brand cleanser... contains oxalic acid and works
miracles. Use gloves. |

| Sound good, although I never saw the stuff. Where can you buy it? JimH wrote: > "Stanley Barthfarkle" <sbarth@yahoo.con> wrote in message |

| In most Supermarkets, in the cleaning section, next to the Comet and
Ajax etc. It is also used to clean stainless steel. |

| I have used On/Off Hull Cleaner and it works well. It's for fiberglass
only, but it works great. Rub or spray it on and wash off about 15
seconds later. Make sure you use it in a well ventilated area. |

| Oxalic acid compounded with a good boat wash. West Marine sells a
pre-mix that contains oxalic acid and there are other manufacturers of
oxalic acid washes. Straight oxalic acid isn't a great idea as it's very corrosive and
nasty crap. Get the mix. Another suggestion it to try a product called Bartender's Friend. |
