Hi Folks,

I have a 1990 Yamaha V4 130 HP motor, no lower unit. Every thing else is there, power trim and tilt, just no lower unit. Lower unit was removed and placed on another motor. What would the value of this be?

Hard to say. It would be difficult to prove it runs to a potential buyer. Therefore, I would only value it as a "parts" motor.

If it had lower unit and ran. What would value be? Is there any where on net that would have motor values? HiTech

You could still hook a hose up to the water tube and fire it up if it was on a sturdy stand. That is only an indication that it runs but it is an indication. gfretwell

Not that it means anything, but in general, engines older than ten years are parts nightmares. I doubt that you will be able to find a lower unit for it as that's a very valuable part and most lilkely was removed because the rest of the engine is junk.

Given that the engine compression is ok and the engine will run, which is not a given in this instance, it's value is relative to your needs. If you have need for a parts engine for example, then it's worth something. If it's an engine that you think you can rehabilitate, then it's worth nothing as it sits.

With that in mind, a max "value" for it as you describe, maybe $250 as is - and that's a big maybe depending on it's mechanical condition.

As to net values, there really isn't a web site or value site that values outboards because their use is such a variable. Some people beat the snot out of their engines, some pamper them - you can't really say without actually checking and running the engine to determine it's viability.

If it had a lower unit, that's a different story - maybe $6/750 if in really excellent condition.

The only thing I'd know what to do, is to see if it will run. Putting it on asn engine stand,a nd hooking a hose up to it as already stated. take some good quality pictures of it and put it on Ebay , starting with a low bid maybe $50.00 and a reserve price. or post a starting bid close to what you want out of it, and let it ride. it may sell, it may not. PLUS you need to specify if it can be shiped or not, what price of shipping would be, or "pick up only"

good luck.
