Prop Wizard takes the guesswork out of selection

Trying to fit the right prop?

You can register as a "boater" and download a free program at propellerwizard.com

Prop Wizard relies on a database said to consist of 250,000 boat and 7,000 engine models. Passenger load, fuel, and equipment are additionally factored in to calculate the proper prop.

(You do have to register, and the site is sponsored by a propeller manufacturer)

Thanks Chuck.

I ran the program and got a recommendation to use a 14.25" diameter x 19" pitch for recreational boating. I am currently running with a 14.5" diameter x 19" pitch prop.

What difference will that +/- .25" in diameter make either way?

FYI: Although you have to register at this site you can feed in bogus personal information and still get directed to the prop wizard program.

Probably not enough to justify changing the prop, and maybe not even enough to notice. If I had to make a guess, I'd say the effect on engine speed would be under 100 RPM- but that would be a guess. Chuck

Still, sounds good to me. My brother demolished his prop on a 19' tri- hull with 250 ci chevy 6 on an alpha drive. we couldn't find any numbers on his prop at all, so he calls a guy that sells a bumch of props on ebay, and the guy said," I know JUST what you need!" sent it to him. My brother installed it, and was less than satisfied. Maybe this will help get some bugs lined out for him.

Thanks, Chuck.

I can't select Boat Manufacturer, and when I try to enter items like weight and length manually it keeps bringing me back to the same screen. Fred

I was thinking the same thing but the boat is relatively small (20 feet) so I did not know for sure what the +/- 1/4" diamater would make.

Thanks again for the link.
