A carbon offset for you *and* the Chesapeake!

Here is a chance to do some good for the CO2 problem, and help the Chesapeake Bay at the same time! It's even possible to have this done in honor of someone, like Harry, who should be getting his card any minute!

Is there some particular reason that you feel compelled to launch a personal attack on John H?

A remark that "a fundraising pitch for this charity or that might be somewhat out of place on a boating NG" is one thing- but calling him a "boatless old man", predicting an endless stream of spam emails from him, and accusing him of being "on the take" are all personality oriented responses.

If you don't care for his use of the NG to drum up funds for apparently worthy causes, you have every right to express your opinion. (I don't care for the way some people use the NG primarily as a vehicle to make crappy personal remarks, and have expressed that opinion). But it's also my opinion that it would be more constructive to address John's observed behavior rather than speculate what he *might* do, and use that speculation as the basis for disparaging personal comments.

======

From what I have been able to see the old man has done his share of personal attacks on me.

Can you remind me again where you complained to JohnH for those attacks on me?

Both of you live by double standards.

If anything, Chuck is a selective netcop. Harry

I suppose he thinks his use of the 'boatless' term is bothersome to me. Somewhere along the way, he misread or miscomprehended something.

The Chesapeake Bay is one of this country's great natural resources, and it is going down the tube quickly. As a member of the Chesapeake Bay Foundation, I've no qualms about posting both information and requests for help in the newsgroup.

Jimmy sure didn't like it when HE was boatless, and someone said something to him about it. basskisser
Apr 13
Jim you have absolutely NO recourse when it comes to personal attacks. Do you remember your attacks on me, my wife, and even my school aged children? I can show you plenty of examples if you like. basskisser

Notice how the little weasel is whining about personal attacks? I wonder if he even remembers his personal attacks on me, my wife, and even my grade school aged children? basskisser

Let's say that's true.

Did you enjoy being personally attacked?

Did it improve the tone of the group?

Was it useful, productive, informative, or even entertaining?

Did you think more of less of JohnH after he attacked you?

Do you suppose that attacking JohnH in retaliation will decrease the probability of future attacks on you in kind, or increase it?

Does anybody know, or really care who "started it" , way back when?

It is true. Stop worrying about what I post. Don't like it..don't read it.

If you find it necessary to netcop, do so equally. Otherwise shove it.

That's true, and he really *was* boatless. I'm sure he misread something, which he's done many times. Actually, being boatless would be a boon to my finances right now. It's 'spring commissioning' time, which means tune up, etc. John

Quit whining! Plant a tree in one of your buddy's names. John

ROTF! I am sure he will also make public all donations, by name and dollar amount! JimH

Crikey...how did I get on his hit list? Harry
Apr 12
Since the old man is boatless and cannot golf he obviously decided to make this his new hobby. Expect to receive a never ending stream of emails from him asking for contributions to all sorts of causes.

I wonder what his take is?

Do you get that television commercial for credit cards where the banker has his hand in the back pocket of various people doing various sports/tasks etc? John reminds me of that banker. Don
Apr 12
Jimmy, the public display of a donation in the Race for the Cure site is purely up to the individual making the donation. You seem overly concerned with that idea. Are you afraid your donation is going to show up, or what? I displayed my donation amount for two reasons, as proof that it was made, and as a challenge to anyone to beat it. Go for it! John
Apr 13
Hit list? Hell, I was being nice! Somewhere out there is a tree with your name on it! John
Apr 13
Boatless? Reading comprehension problems again? John
Apr 13
Careful! Jimmy's reading problem may cause him to take offense!

Would you like a tree in your name?

Go make a donation!
