Kinda/sorta boating/weather question...

With the huge storm system - which hurrcane wind warnings - boiling off the VA/NC/SC coastline, what would you do if you were the NHC?

1 - Name the storm and then prepare to catch all the BS as a result?

2 - Just continue high wind/surf advisories and kind of ignore the hurricane that's developing out there.

Personally, I'd name it - what the hell - another .50¢ per gallon of gas/diesel isn't going to hurt anybody. :>)

This is a more serious question than you might think. The insurance policy for my GB states that the deductible doubles to 8% if the boat is damaged in a named storm. Wayne.B

There's no point in naming a storm.

Besides, we'll eventually be working our way through the entire alphabet twice a year.

We don't name the typhoons on this side of the rock, and even so we manage to get along quite nicely.
