I hate boat buyers - Part Deaux...
My potential buyer called again this morning - wanted to make sure
that I "understood" his offer.Get this - he felt that based on his "surveyor's" report that perhaps
he made an inappropriate offer. He went into this long explanation of
the why's and how's then said this: "I don't want the engine as it's very old. Based on your asking
price, my "surveyor's" report and the cost of a new four stroke Honda
long leg which will cost me at least $3,000, I'll up my offer to
$1,000." Basically, he wants me to buy his new engine for him. I told him never to call me again. :>) Ever. |

| It's hard admitting your kids have a better foundation, eh? If they're
ever classified as erudite, you'll never live it down. Have to hang your head in shame for facilitating their superior
education. jps |

| Crazy busy. No time to do anything but work. I gaze lovingly at
anything that floats by on the canal, including milfoil harvesters. I'm getting hard up for floating. jps |

| Well, that's a good thing right? If I remember correctly, last time
we chatted, you were looking for business. It's good that you are busy. >I'm getting hard up for floating. Understood. Sometimes you just got to take a break, 'ya know? |

| I keep telling her, if you are 20 and you are not a liberal, you have
no heart. If you are 40 and still a liberal, you have no brain. She's
smart, she'll come around someday, I hope ;) |

| Careful, with all that education, she might tell you the origins of that
quote. It came from a French monarchist. "Not to be a republican at twenty is proof of want of heart; to be one at
thirty is proof of want of head." Francois Guizot (1787-1874) ;-) |

wouldn't care if he showed up at the door with the full asking price in

| I think that is part of the learning experience and growth experience
for all of us. Think back to when you were 21-23 yrs old and compare
your perception of the world and beliefs then to your beliefs today. All in all, I have been pleased with the young adults I have meet. They
might be naive and are looking for and expecting utopia, but I know I
was very similar when I was their age. |

| Tom,
On Monday, I am heading up to NYC for my son's graduation from Columbia.
I am then helping him move to Cambridge, MA. I am willing to end your
pain of dealing with all these low life blood suckers by taking your
boat off your hands. Of course I do expect to be compensated for my
efforts, but I am sure we can work out something fair. I was thinking
$500 in a certified check would be reasonable. Please make the check
out to R.J. Smithers III. ps - Did I tell you he is graduating with honors and was awarded a
scholarship from Columbia to be used for his post graduate work at the
school of his choice? Don't you hate parents who bore people with their
children's succuss stories? |
