Speaking of boats...

Here's some film I shot with my new camera today.

I was experimenting with the tripod. The final speed shot, the camera fell over before I got to 50.

Sorry about that. :>)

It's a fable - the name is Nipmuc for neutral fishing grounds or something like that.

Webster Lake is interesting because it's believed that there are four seperate ponds and at one time had four seperate eco systems. If you look at a map of the lake, there are three narrows seperating North, Middle and South Ponds and Smith's Cove where Indian Ranch resort and concert hall are. There is evidence that the Nipmucs connected the North and Middle ponds early on and the second was opened by a flood.

It's a fun place to boat. It's also deadly. When I was on the Regional Dive Team, over ten years, we did eleven or so body recoveries on that lake from boat accidents.

The increase in fuel prices, and his rationalization of why, have cause Harry's hemorrhoids to flare up recently.

Nah. But the increase in fuel prices has convinced me that Big Oil and refiners need to be under citizen oversight, and that individuals who use tremendous amounts of petrol resources for their own pleasure should pay an additional penalty on top of the high prices for their fun, and the moneys collected via the penalty be used to subsidize essential petrol use by the poor. HK

We are paying what we should have been paying years ago.

That might be so if any of the funds were going to relieve our reliance on petrol, but they are not. We're just getting ripped off. HK

Yawn.

Last I knew, there were about seven "generally accepted" legal accounting practices. Within the limits imposed by law, businesses routinely adopt that one that best serves the interest of the business .... often changing from reporting period to reporting period as situations and markets change. Nothing wrong or illegal about doing that ... it's prudent and responsible to do so in the best interests of the stockholders. To do otherwise may land you in jail, especially now-a-days.

I KNOW!!! I KNOW!!!

Green People!!!

How the hell do you think they got to be green?

Short
May 17
Well, in Green People Land, which is just north of Fucia People Land, we can account very well.

We can account on our fingers, toes, extremities and occasionally internal organs.

Green

>Sorry, but the books of "big oil" are cooked.

What do they taste like? How are they eaten? Do you use any kind of sauce?

Do you cook them live?

We Green People are always looking for new gastronomic adventures.

And of course, this one is kind of catchy...sing along now..

This one kind of reminded me of the Mickey Mouse Club song.

I don't know why, but this reminds me of Bugs Bunny.

Wow, I must have been mistaken, especially about the line concerning a "little green had holding a ketchup bottle."

I'll try to get it right next time. please don't flog me

Flog? That would be cruel and unusual punishment.

In Green People Land, we Frog people.

We turn them into Frogs and they have to go around and get people to kiss them three times in order to turn back into whatever they were before we Frogged them.

Flog - good lord man, what do you think we are - barbarians?

There's an interesting piece of trivia associated with "In The Mood".

It was originally called "Tar Paper Stomp" and was written by Joe Garland who was a sideman/composer for a number of black big bands. The lyrics were written by Andy Razaf who was an African-American lyricist who did a number of big band tunes.

So what do the town fathers in Webster think about you doing speed trials on their nice little lake?

Wayne.B

Well, considering that a couple of local ocean racers use that particular pond for testing their 42 foot 1200 horsepower super charged racing boats, not much. :>) Short

Bozos. Next thing you know you'll have 5 mph Manatee zones.

What I want to know is how do you fit "Lake Chargoggagoggmanchauggagoggchaubunagungamaugg"

on the transom of your boat?

We had manatee zones where I lived in NE Florida. I actually saw manatees a few times in them. I was glad to slow down for the miles required.

The speed zones? There is a rationale for some of them but manatee protection is the hot button that gets them implemented - even where there are few or no manatees.

There is a notable example 2 miles south of here on the Caloosahatchie River. A fellow with a house directly on the river was tired of being buzzed by jet skis and speed boats with straight thru exhaust. He donated a big pile of money to the "Save the Manatees Club" and they lobbied (successfully) for a 1 mile slow speed zone in front of his house. Government at its best. :-)

They will have no impact on Harrie's boating. John

When we lived along the ICW in Florida, I did my best to make life miserable for the "cruisers" going by with their huge wakes, and the speedboats going by unmuffled. So did a lot of others in that immediate vicinity. We actually got one airboater arrested for disturbing the peace. HK

That's where my parents honeymooned a few years back, I had to learn to spell it once when I was young to get an ice cream cone from dad. Apparently the indians were fighting over fishing rights in the lake from both sides long ago and they made an agreement: "You fish on your side, I fish on my side, no one fishes the middle". That's what the indian name of the lake means, or so I was told. Looks very nice, I have never been there. justwaitafreki...
