Sea Hunt Boats

I am probably going to purchase a 220 Triton (22' center consol) and want to know if any has powered this model with a Yamaha 150 hp (4 stroke). The dealer thinks it will be under powered?

Thoughts?

The dealer is right. Get a 225 or 250. HK

Ask here, http://seahuntownersgroup.yuku.com/bseahuntownersgroup

or here, http://www.thehulltruth.com/

You'll find people that own that boat at both of those sites.

SeaHunts a great boat. I have a 186 with a 115 and am very pleased.

Good luck.

Which one - the 22 LTS or the 2286?

If it's the LTS, it's fine - you should get some decent performance out of the 150. If you can jump to a 200, that's even better, but I don't think the difference in performance will be amazing.

If you are looking at the 2286 I'd go with a 225 at a minimum as it's almost 1,400 pounds heavier than the LTS (3,780 lbs vs 2,300 lbs) Or if you got the bucks, max it out at 250.

Better yet, go with Etec, but we all know that's impossible so forget about it. :>)

were talking about Triton.

I was testing a Triton today for a dealer and have Triton on the brain.

Sorry.

As to Sea Hunt,

Both the 22' bay boat and the 22' center console are about the same weight - 2,100 pounds vs 2,400 pounds. So in theory, a 150 should be ok, not stellar, on both boats. The max horsepower is the same (225 according to the web site), but with the slight difference in weight, maybe a 200 would be a little better than a 150 for the full size center console.

Same as the Triton - if you have the dollars, go with the most you can afford. The price difference between 150 and 200 for Yamahammers isn't that much anyway. If you can max it out, then max it out.

My theory is max horsepower or failing that from an expense viewpoint, at least 75% max horsepower for best performance.

Sorry about that Triton thing.
