Is Doug King getting bored?

Waxing philosophic on the nature of Canals.

What's the over/under on Doug calling it quits and flying home leaving Kathy and Hank to bring the boat back?

LOL!!

Is it good form to remark about people who are known to the group but no longer actively involved- and therefore without opportunity to reply and/or defend themselves? Personally not sure, which is why my comment is phrased as a question.

Interesting you should mention that since I just finished reading it Wayne.B

A lot depends on what is happening along the way. We'd get impatient if lock openings were delayed, same with bridge openings but that is less of an issue on the canals - big problem in FL however.

The rest of it depends on the terrain and getting in the right mindset. Some parts are a lot more interesting than others. We were talking to people last week who had done the southern half of the great loop. They found the Tombigbee Waterway down through Tennessee and Alabama to be boring, mostly due to lack of interesting scenery.

This is the boat of preference for the locals when traveling the canals of the UK.....narrowboats:

Interesting looking but not my style. ;-)

The English canals are so narrow that you don't have much choice. The boats are literally built to fit the locks. You do get to cruise by some really quaint olde villages along the way. It's a very laid back vacation from what I hear, eating and drinking your way through the English countryside. Wayne.B

My English buddy did this a few years ago with the family. Said it was very enjoyable. Calif
