Help! Power steering pump problem!
The power steering pump on my 4.3L sterndrive is leaking like crazy.
It seems to be coming from the stainless steel line that attaches near
the bottom with a brass nut. The nut is tight but still leaks. Is there a way to seal this? I don't want to replace the entire line. Thanks! |

| That hose is the pressure supply side. Some of them are flared connections
and some are o-rings. Overtightening can make it worse. You need to remove
it to see which you have. If it is flared you also want to take a look at
the seat down in the hole on the pump to make sure it is not damaged before
you replace the hose. If it is an o-ring you may simply be able to replace
the o-ring. Lowes may have one close enough in the plumbing department.
Otherwise you'll have to give the boat store 10 times $ what it is actually
worth :-) You need to make completely sure it is coming from the hose and not the
front seal. The front seal is a common leak point on power steering pumps. "Inno" <inno.dubelaar@gmail.com> wrote in message |

| BIG TIME! My pump started spewing fluid all over the place from the front
seal. I think it is because in order to keep the serpentine belt from
flopping, most people over-tighten. I found a pump on ebay that was new and
laying in someones garage. Got it cheap and was as advertised... |
