Stream fishing
In the recent Bassmaster magazine there is an interesting article
about fishing streams for bass. Here in Northwestern Pennsylvania we
have excellent streams and creeks that are targeted for trout for the
most part, but they contain a variety of species of fish. Any folks
in this newsgroup fish streams/creeks?Dick |

| Yup! Get a flyrod and have fun! I don't do this very often but there is
this fishing buddy of mine, a die hard flyfisherman and that's the
only way to go bassin' with him. Cheers,

| I used to walk some sections of the Gila River. Live bait was the best, but
small spinners and spoons worked very fast would sometimes produce. Int he
areas I fished it was stream size.

| Up until about a year oe 2 ago (when I started hanging out on this newsgroup
and learning from all the good folks here), almost all of my fishing was done
in small streams. I live in south eastern Pa. Alot of the streams around here
are stocked with trout in spring, but get a little warmer through summer. You
might catch trout, suckers, carp, smallmouth, largemouth, musky, crappie, rock
bass, and various species of sunfish from the same creek at various times of
the year or various locations. My 2 Biggest smallmouths have come from such

| If I have a small window of time I fish local streams with a 7'6" fly rod
for anything that will bite. Pound-for-pound there is nothing like a
Pumpkinseed on a fly rod. Squash your barbs down for added excitment. |

| Hi Richard - Thanks for the response, and thanks to the other guys that responded
to my question. I am a die-hard fly fisherman as well as bass fisherman, and I agree
that you can't beat bluegill on a 4 weight fly rod - they are the
scappiest - I catch most on foam ants, beetles, etc. that I tie. The reason I posted the initial message was most of the ROFB guys fish

| Well we call them "creeks" down here, and you bet there are a lot of
bass in them,, "little" spotted bass, if you catch a 3 lber in a creek,,
you want to have it mounted. I fish the creek, it's 400 yds from the
house, it averages 20 to 25 feet across, most of it is under 2 feet
deep, but it does have some holes here and there, that run 8 to 10 feet,
it has little fishing pressure, and it's about 20 miles long, with
little access. WE use ultra light spinning gear or fly rods, the Roster
tail always catches the bass in this creek,, so do other small lures,
mostly the smallest hard plastic crank baits. WE don't fish the creeks for "large bass" because they are just not in
there, go to the lakes and or rivers which are not far away, most bass
fishermen would rather catch big bass, the creek is good if you have an
hour to kill |
