Fisning update

Hi all, Well I took 2 days off from work this week. Tuesday was a bust because my refrigerator went south on me and I spent the whole day cooking food as it thawed out and waiting for the new fridge to be delivered.

Today was a little better. Thank the Lord I spent good money on Gortex about 3 weeks ago. It rained all day. I was going to pull jigs on the Wiscaonsin River but the wind was too strong. I fished from 10:00am till 2:00pm and came away with 1- 2 1/2 Smallie. Got him on a power worm in a tuft of grass.

Left the river and went over to Lake Psobic for more fishing. Worked about 1/2 way around the lake and all I had to show for it was a couple of small Bluegill. I fish for them with a small beetle spin or jig while Bass fishing. I got to the area that has quite a few trees hanging over and many good piers. On one long cast I took time to change speed and direction of the boat and when I checked the line for movement it was going sideways. Strong fish, stayed down after the hookset and headed out to deep water. Well it seems the boat shadow was where it wanted to be and I had a hard time convincing it to come out. Rod was in the water to the reel before it came out on the shallow side. Still didn't want to come up. Made three good drag screaming runs and surfaced. Nice Largemouth. Still had a lot of energy left so I netted it. Weighed in at 5.8. My personal best so far. I sure hope the pictures turn out. I am going to look at a small cheap digital for my dry bag next week. danl4x@charter.net Remove the x for e-mail reply www.outdoorfrontiers.com

Congratulations on your 5.8.... These LM's up here are healthy and fight a LOT.

I've learned one new technique, though. I can now steer my skiff over to the weedbed with just my foot on the powerdrive. My fish seem to bury in the weeds shortly after they take the topwater and then dive for cover! If it weren't for that, I'd lose many of my recent catches.

Next time you are out and it is gray and raining; in 5/7 feet of water with weeds underneath; try a medium or even smallish Pop-R. The explosions, from the these fat bass, are something to love. Even the larger Northern Pike hits make you wonder why you'd want to put your hand in the water around here.

Heading to Oconomowoc this morning to try for a muskie!

A 5-8 is a great fish. I haven't caught one that big yet this year. Makes it worth it doesn't it. Bob
