Lake Oroville for the 4th.
Can not remember if I posted a trip report. We went up to Lake Oroville for
the 4th weekend. Hot. Dang Hot! Was in the high 90's. Spent a lot of the
weekend in the water. Fished for bass and Coho Salmon. Trolled for the
salmon, as I could stay in the shade of the cover. Caught a couple, kept 1
about 3# that was not going to make it. Caught a few small bass. Stayed up
the arms and off the main lake, as was cooler and less traffic. Lots of
5-6" bass. Everywhere. Biggest bass I saw, was when eating lunch and
watching a bunch of bluegills by the back of the boat, an about 5# bass
swims by. Broke one of my favorite rods. A Browning I won several years
ago. Was C'rigging a brush hog, and getting it through the rocks with a
little shaking and the rig hangs up. Shake it a little harder and the rod
brakes. Right at the 2nd guide from the tip. I had just rewrapped that
guide with a new guide. Either a small scratch from cleaning off the old
thread, or a sharp place on the guide foot. Did not do much drop shotting
this trip as was just to hot to sit up front and get burned. Was nice that
since the wife retired on June 40, we did not come home until late Tuesday.
No traffic.
