A bad day
So in the suggestions thread it was said to go fishing and post my day here.
Well I went fishing on Sunday, was at my favorite creek to surprise a few LM
Bass at the crack of dawn. Unfortunately I forgot to bring my box with the
top water plugs. Oh well a quick (and somewhat frantic) search of my car
came up with a Cicada shaped top water made by arbaghast(sp?). I tied it on
and was getting hit right away. Caught a few undersized LM and then I
noticed this nice shadow, popped my lure about three feet past him and
wiggled, jiggled and moved it right above him BAM a good hit and hook set.
Got it onshore to discover an 18" Gar lifted my foot to stomp down before he
could break my line but too late, he snagged the line with one of his many
teeth and was off with my lure.Time to switch tactics, so I tied on a soft bait but even the perch were
bored with that. Switched to a spinner, and started to get some action.
Caught a few Bluegills, but the Bass were being picky, then I hung my
spinner and when I went to retrieve it my rod snapped about 7" from the tip. I got home by 9AM with nothing to show for my day but a broken rod and foul
mood. On the upside though I did manage to get the grass cut in my yard so the day
was not a total waste! |

| Sounds like a decent day fishing except for breaking ytour rod. You caught
some fish, you made a good judgement about what action to work, you learned
that you should keep a "panic box" in your vehicle. Anyday I go fishing and leanr something I feel I did good. You actually
caught fish, and you started out with a good pattern. I learned I'm glad there aren't any gar around here.

| For the life of me, I can't remember a "bad day" fishing....I do however
remember some bad days mowing the lawn <grin>.
Thanks for the recant of your day!
