rattle trap
how do you guys fish rattle traps in natural lakes? I have a tournament
wed. evening from 6:00 0 9:00 pm eastern time the lake I am fishing is
kinda stained to clear with a sandy bottom, I fished it last week and
could only get bit on a small jerkbait and a green and white senko, but
only short fish. The lake has alot of 15- 16 bass in it. Ireally think a
trap will work, what do you guys think. |

| Got submerged weedbeds in this lake? If I was throwing lipless cranks, I'd be
sure to try them over and around the edges of the grass as well as in the
grass, allowing them to get slightly snagged then ripping them free...gets some
great reaction bites. If the water was clear, I would be trying something really natural, like a
Lucky Craft LV100 or a LV300N - a bait without rattles.....sometimes quiet is
better than noisy. I'm sure some Traps or Spots come in natural colors, but I really like the
translucent natural colors Lucky Craft has, but they are kinda pricey unless
you can some across some on eBay. Brad Coovert

| The only way I have ever caught fish on a rattle trap was to drop it into
submerged grass beds then jerk it free of the grass, and let it fall back
into it again. I have had similar results with crank baits, but I also catch some fish on
free swimming and bottom bouncing crankbaits as well. |
