FAQ REQUEST - Gut Hooked Fish

How about a synopsis of the various things thta have been reccomended regarding gut hooked fish for survival after release. We have had long threads on this topic twice that I can recall.

I just cut the line 6 - 12 inches from the hook, Give em a kiss and send em on thier way.

Sounds like a fine idea to me. Would you have time to gather the information? I'm a little swamped at the moment, between work and preparing to sell the house and move. Andrew

You might take a look at article #31 on the BFHP by Ralph Manns. That could be put in the FAQs with his permission if the powers that be deem it appropriate.

Once gut hooked a fish stands little chance of recovery. Best thing to do is learn how to minimize gut hooking. I always feel bad when it happens. Richard
