Fine Tuning Crank Baits

What do you guys do to optimize your hook ups with crank baits. I know I titled this post fine tuning, but the Heddon crank baits I am uisng really need very little to make them get strikes. The come witht he Excalibur rotating hooks which also seem to hook up pretty well. I am just looking for any little things I can do to keep the fish on the hook longer.

For a fish story, I ran into three areas where fish were actively chasing shad yesterday. In the thrid spot I nailed largemouth and smallmouth both chasing, and saw lots of stripers breaking over on the shad in the shallowest water... See the rest of this in the post... Fish Story.

Bob,

Personally I switch all my crankbait hooks to Mustad Triple Grips, I am a huge Daiichi fan, but when it comes to crankbaits I don't stray away from Triple Grips. All my buddies that fish Walleye tournaments do the same, and that is pretty much where I picked it up. On top of that I use a Fiberglass rod for fishing Crankbaits (Thanks Mr. Clunn), and have seen my hook to landing percentage go way up. So far I have not run into an instance where either has really failed me, bottom line is you are going to lose some crankbait fish, but you are also going to get a lot of bites.
