Bass Fly patterns and book Recommendations
I'm a bass fisherman who uses mainly spinning and bait casting rods. I
also have done a fair amount of fly fishing and would like to try to
catch some bass on a fly rod. I also ty flies so I would like
recommendations on bass fly patterns and books on bass patterns. Thanks, Art Salmons |

| Dave Whitlock and Skip Mooris have both done books on bass on the fly.
The simple Wooly Booger is an awesome bass fly, I use Hair Sliders in pads
and where you would use a grass frog baitcasting. The Dahlberg Diver is also
a great fly, as are some of the new worm imitations coming out. The old
standby frogs and poppers shouldn't be forgotten either.
Light tackle bass fishing has come to the forefront in the last couple of
years and a good source of information is www.byrdultrafly.com if I remember
right, he has come up with a system of catching some pretty good sized fish
on little flies that match the lighter rods. |

| I have caught some really nice smallies on my flyrod using a #8 Black Teeny
Nymph with a 2lb leader, in both Rivers and lakes. Granted, you need to be
in some pretty clear water to fish it effectively, but I have had them run
from 20 feet away to hit it. |
