treble hooks on spinnerbaits
This past Thursday I lost several fair size bass because I wasn't paying
attention.[ plain and simple].Friday I got my copy of Bassmaster and read
the article on spinnerbaits with treble hooks by Kelly Jordan [I
think].Saturday morning I cut the barb off of several old spinnerbaits,
got out the propane torch , heated up the shank and twisted an eye in the
end .I then took a red treble hook ,put on a slip ring, slipped it over the
eye and a new spinnerbait is done.I ended up making four in different color
skirts and about ready to leave for the lake..
With the extra hooks maybe I can snag one and keep it on the
hooks[regardless of my attention span}I'll post my results later this
evening

| Ken, I haven't seen the article you are talking about, but Russ Bassdozer
talks about treble trailer hooks for spinnerbaits. Looks like less work to
me. Give it a try! (look at bassdozer website, feathered trebles article) Cheers |

| Last fall Kevin Worth showed me what he called the smallmouth killer. It's
an all-chatreuse spinnerbait (blades too), with 3 standard spinnerbait
trailer hooks & a #2 treble on the end. I used it at Champlain to catch my 19-13 sack of 5 smallies on day1 of the
divisional, and most were caught on the treble. Warren |

| I got to the lake about 2:45 and I landed in the middle of two final bass
club tournaments.I would guess maybe 65 boats , not counting weekenders and
joy riders.I did manage 3 short fish on senkos but nothing on my remodeled
spinners.Something interesting though. On one spinnerbait I put a 3 inch
baby fluke as a trailer and the movement of the bait from side to side
increased 100 %..
Don't know if this is good or bad but I did have a bass follow it for a
short time.Looks like Tuesday before I get another chance to go .Let you
know Tue evening

| Warren, interesting setup.... Do you mean attached to the spinnerbait hook
there are three trailer hooks, one after the other in a chain, with a #2
treble like the caboose bringing up the rear? What size of head and blades worked best with that many hooks? Were all the regular trailer hooks turned up, down, or alternating? What kind of hook keeper worked best? Which hooks were primarily responsible for your hookups... main shaft hook?
Trailer hooks? Treble?
