Friday Afternoon Off
I am now convinced that we are meant to fish on Friday afternoons
(maybe all afternoons - I just don't have the supporting evidence yet)
instead of work. I live in central Florida and spent the late
afternoon on a local lake running BassPro's red Stik-O through the
lilly pads and shallows. I don't know if it was the the little front
that blew through in the middle of the day, or the slight change in
temps, or because it was late in the day, or just what factors are to
credit, but I had some great bass fishing. In about an hour and a
half I had 18 fish on and boated 14. Four were lost in the pads and
grass. Nothing over 2.5 lbs but a heck of a lot of fun. I just got a
used bass boat and started fishing fresh water in Florida a couple of
weeks ago so this was a real treat.Thought I'd share the experience. If nothing else it may be the
motivator for other to get out there again soon. As for me -- I will
be out at dawn! Jim |

| I am fortunate that I live on a system where pressure is "never" a problem,
even with a 200 boat bass tourney and a 200 boat walleye tourney going on at
the same time....There is always somewhere to go and be for the most part,
by yourself. Chris |

| Pressure bothers you? I love pressure. My favorite time to be fishing is
in a really tough tournament. Anyone can catch fish when they're biting,
the trick is to catch em when they're not biting. Thursday is my day off, yes Dan. Warren |

| favorite time to be fishing is in a really tough tournament. Anyone can

biting." I totally agree. Learning how to provoke a reactionary strike when the bite
is off is very cool. But so is knowing where and how to always find some
active fish is even better. Now, all I have to do is learn how ;-) Which
is the same problem 99.5% of all anglers face. They say that at any time only 10% of the all the water in a lake is right
to support life. Now, that is a lot of dead (unproductive) water. Further
compound that with poor conditions, and we as anglers are faced with only
about 1% of all the water in a lake being right to support activity (just a
personal theory). Talk about finding a needle in a hay stack I say the
word LUCK goes along with the SKILL at that point. For in a pro tournament
you have a lot very talented and skilled anglers who know where the most
active fish SHOULD BE, so the deciding factor - LUCK or being LUCKY. --

| Your not wrong about that luck factor, especially when they shut down. I
havw pitched to shorelines and laydowns and got nothing but put it 6 inchs
further back or to the left or right and wham!!! fish on.. sometimes you
have to bonk them on the head |
