Maui Jim Sunglasses
A lot of us here are always fighting to find the best sunglasses for clarity
when fishing. We want to cut the glare and see into the water very well. I
have some Costa Del Mars, as well as Maui Jim's. A couple of months ago a
pair of my Maui Jim's got left on the front deck of the boat while we were
fishing. When I put them back on a temple fell off. It may have been a
defect or it may have gotten damaged laying on the deck of the boat. I set
them out of the way on the deck. When I picked them up later one of the
lenses had gotten smashed.I was not surprised that they had gotten broken under the circumstances. I
was disappointed though since that pair of glasses had been a present from
my wife for our anniversary. I contacted Maui Jim hoping they would help me
out, AND THEY DID. I explained that the damage was not anything I
considered to be warranted, but that they were a gift from my wife. For $8.95 for return shipping I sent them my glasses, and they sent me a new
pair. Cool. They did say it was a "ONE TIME ONLY: exchange to promote good
will with their company, but I was very impressed. I doubt I would have
replaced them if I were in their shoes. Bob La Londe

| Bob, That is awesome, I have heard companies giving significant discounts, but
never just paying for shipping to send yours in and getting a new pair, that
is pretty sweet. Chris |

| It's nice to hear good customer service stories like this. They sound like
a first class company, but how about the glasses themselves. You said you
had the Maui's and Costa's. How do you like either? What colors do you
have? Seems I always am looking for a good pair of glasses, but never had
the courage to spend the bigger money. Of course, I have never fished with
a "good" pair of glasses either. Maybe they are the latest thing I can't
live without...:) Scott....

| The Maui's I have are a lightly mirrored upper and lower with just smoked in
the middle. They give good contrast, and they are excellent during the
brightest part of the day. The Costas I have are vermilion, and they are
slightly better during lower light periods. |

| hey Bob
That's not the first time I have heard of that kind of service from Maui
Jim. A charter boat captain that I have fished with over the years told me
a similar story this summer. I use their glasses and have been lucky enough to have the same pair for 4
years. Hope I didnt jinx myself by writing that. Steve |

| Sounds like their policy is almost as good as the one at Walmart.

| Hmmmm..... when I see Maui Jim's at Walmart that might be interesting to
know LOL. (NOT) I buy my tackle at Sportsmen's Hide-A-Way. A locally
owned independent shop. Walmart gets the eyeball once in a while, but only
if I discover I am out of something late the night before a tournament.
Then I only get what I need for the next day. I really do not like Walmart.
The return policy may be ok, but the customer service on the front side is
atrocious here in Yuma. Bob La Londe

| My wife has a sign hanging in the kitchen that reads...
"If I'm not here, Check at Wal-Mart" I've got one hanging over my den door that reads,
"Marriage was made in Heaven, but so was thunder and lightning." |

| No, maybe I got the color wrong. If I had to describe it I'ld say it was
somewhere between bronze and amber. It gives unbelievable contrast in low
light circumstances over some of my other polarized glasses. Bob La Londe
