Cajun Red Cast mono line

I just picked up a spool of Cajun Red Cast and gave it a try Saturday, and I was very impressed with its castability. Maybe I should of tried it on a reel I'm already familiar with, but I spooled it on an old Ryobi V-Mag3 I picked up at a garage sale. I'm pretty much a beginner with baitcasters. I set the mags at 5 (half-way), tied on a Gammy 3/0 EWG with a 1/8 oz bullet weight, and rigged a 6" curl-tail worm. I found I could chunk (that's Texan for throw) it almost twice as far as I could a similar lure on Power Pro. I fished for a couple of hours, and landed 6 bass, a large bluegill, and about a 3lb. channel cat. I never re-tied, and I never backlashed. Like I said, I'm fairly new to baitcasting, and I usually have to decide if I want distance, or do I want to avoid overruns. I was able to really load up the rod on casts with no problems. Now I'll have to put it on another reel and see how much to praise the line, and how much the reel.

You didn't say what #test you were using, but I'm curious. I used 10# on one of my BC reels most of the year, and while I agree the castability was good, I found the line had too much memory for me. Is the 6 or 8# any better?

Actually, it is the 10#. I haven't seen any memory problems, but I just spooled up. however, the spool diameter is pretty small, and it seemed to lay straight off the spool. After I caught that catfish, the hook was bent, and I didn't work very hard at straightening it. But I wasn't noticing any twist problems with the line, either. Henry
