Merry Christmas!
Well guys, I'm getting ready for another 24 hour shift at the fire
department and so, I won't have group access on a computer. So while I'm at
the station, enjoy the time spent with your families, throw another log on
the fire (it's -21 as I type this), and have a cup of holiday cheer for me.Merry Christmas! |

soon. Hurry up Spring. Last night it was 4 below with a wind chill of 24

probably 65 now. Older daughter and husband drove in from LA this morning

| I'm home now and it wasn't too bad. Eight EMS runs and a car accident.
Luckily, the accident came in at 11:30, so we were back at the station by
1:00 a.m. |

| Oh, fighting fires in sub-zero weather can be a real problem. The worst I
ever experienced was a big Victorian home three doors west of my home. The
temp that day was -30. It wasn't bad while firefighting in the house, but
it was basically gone by the time we received the call. So when we pulled
out and fought it from the outside, it got really ugly. I had frostbitten feet, fingers, ears, nose and cheekbones, plus, I slipped
on some ice (go figger) and dislocated my shoulder. The water mist froze on
everything and I had almost an inch of ice build-up on me. When I got back
to the station, they had to turn a water hose on me to thaw out my gear
enough to get it off! That was a long day..... |

I'm off work Monday and Friday, so the three days left through the week
wouldn't have been a problem. My wife on the other hand... I'd have a lot of 'splainin' to do. |
