Is this really a big deal..........
or is all this trivial bickering about posting of commercial items more
frustration venting because of cabin fever?
<I'm getting on my soapbox with flame retardant underwear>
MY personal view of these types of post, whether they are from SW,
Rodney, ME, etc. is, no big deal. The people that post all contribute
in other ways and if they have an item that they sell and want to let
us know about it or a special offer that they have, let 'em. It's not
like I have to do anything but ignore the post if I don't like it. I am
always glad to hear about a new item or specials on products that are
FISHING related. How are these post different than an angler posting a
"product review"? IF you think these reviews are not influenced, I've
got a bridge for sale.
Another personal view that I have is, I feel it is much worse to
use vulgarity (especially in this group because I know of a couple of
>18 yr old boys that lurk) than it is to post on topic, fishing related
product announcements. My thoughts are, when a persons starts with name
calling/vulgarity, the intelligent conversation has ended and the rest
is garbage. I have a motto that I try to stick to: "Never argue with an
idiot because he'll only drag you down to his level and beat you with
experience".
I'm amazed that the anti-Advertisement posters use the 'waste of
bandwidth' argument to backup their point, all the while, wasting
hundred's of times the bandwidth to make the point.
My point is, IF you don't like Rodney/Joe H./Duane/etc., don't
click on their posts or killfile them. Also, IF you must use vulgarity,
go to a new group that accepts this in their charter.
Also, IS it really important to point out someones
gramatical/spelling errors?

| 96.7% of all the posts I see here are about product of some kind or another,
rarely do we post about actual presentation, seasonal awareness, water
temps, habitat or even biology. This is not In-Fisherman Magazine.....wait
a minute....when you buy that mag every issue is chock full of spam, do you
throw the pages in the air with disgust.....because you are paying for the
advertising.....when I advertise my business I have to come up with some
huge coin....how come they (in Fisherman) make YOU pay for it???????
That mag should be FREE, FREE, FREE!

Use of vulgarity is usually a sign that someone is not bright enough
to think before they speak (type). I would not have seen any of the
posts I did not want to if it was not for a glitch in my filters. Now
they are back to working, the world is right and I am happy :<} Been fishing lately? Are you going to be at the Southern Classic? I
hope to be there this year. I want to meet all the people that did
not make it to the Northern Classic and I also want to see Warren
catch a fish. LOL

| Bingo. The idiot entered my killfile a couple of years back due to
exactly that. After a brief Google check, it was quite clear that
Fort-no-berries gets the same reactions no matter where he posts. Trolls are less annoying. And certainly less evil. ------

| I don't mind the occasional spam slipped in and even though i can't take
advantage of it since the cross border thing really pumps up the price. I have
a fantastic cache of lures bought from a lad that closed up his tackle shop. In
addition i'll be making my own high end line of lures.
I know stony is pretty astute but i don't know how he comes up with the 96.7%
figure. |

| Jack really needs to be there, and so do you Dan! You'll enjoy Jack... he's
a pretty funny guy when he's downing his Red Bull. Just stand back a little
ways from him in case he really gets wild. As far as being fun watching Warren catch fish... You'll have a blast doing
that! Warren kinda has this knack for Tennessee fish. I'll warn you now...
if you get paired with him, you might as well spend the day holding the net.
You probably won't have time to lift a rod. "Dan, danl, danny boy, Redbeard, actually Greybeard now" |

| Why thanks Charles, I find the TN bass just as freindly as my TN bassn
buddies. The fishing down there seems to be all about patterns, at least
from the two lakes that I've spent a few days each on - much more so than
99% of my local waters. Can't wait to run the Gambler on Center Hill!

| I guess it's important enough to some people to start a brand new thread for
