spinning reel opinion or recommendation

I have been using a lower end reel for the last few years now I am at the point where I would like to use a quality spinning reel. I am looking at the Quantum Energy PTi spinning reel just wondering if anyone has an opinion on this reel or would like to recommend another model. Thanks ahead for any help.

Pat_RI = Pat, I have several Quantum spinning reels, including the Energy PTi, I have them because my son gave them to me....but I have had no problems with them, and in my opinion, they are great little reels! I have little to compare with, but I would buy one if the need ever arises, which I hope doesn't...keep sending the care packages son! <grin>.

Pat,

I am not familiar with the Quantum reel...but Santa brought me a Abu Garcia C604 that I like a lot. Very smooth, continuous anti-reverse, 5 ball bearings (I think). It was a nice up grade to my old Zebco Cardinal 4's, even though they are still very good reels. I just got tired of hearing the clicker all the time!

I have used the PTi reel this past year along with my Shimano Stradics. The two brands are similar in performance so far. I have used Stradics for six years and like them a lot. The PTi will save you a few dollars and perform well. The PTi was just as smooth at the end of the season as it was when I started. I would not hesitate to get another one. Illinois

I have not had good luck with longevity using Quantum reels. However that was a while ago and I'm sure that they've changed the design of reels, hopefully for the better.

A spinning reel that I have had good luck with is the Shimano Sahara and Stradic reels. The Saharas I own have been beaten and abused for years now and they still perform flawlessly. The Stradics are a great reel, smooth and lightweight, but they are a somewhat pricier reel.
