So, what was up with that 12 pound bass from Michigan in the Bassmaster Lunker Club a month or two ago?

Never saw it. I can't believe that anyone pulled a 12 pounder from Michigan. Jerry

At that latitude that 12 lb mother would be as old as the hills, over thirty, maybe even forty?! Did they mention if they included the walker or a wheelchair on the scales when they weighed it? -- Steve Steve

maybe they weighed it while it was still encased in a block if ice. RATMAN

They usually list the home town of the person who caught the fish, maybe he was from MI and the listing was misprinted.

Nope, I'm sure the Lake was in Mi too... go-bassn

The Wisconsin State Record Largemouth is 11 lbs., 3 oz. and the record Smallmouth is 9 lbs., 1 oz., so I see no reason why a Michigan lake couldn't produce a 12 pounder. Steve

OK, here ya go - found it.

From the Dec 04 issue:

Doug Meekhof Jenison, Mich - 11 pounds 14 ounces - Lake Clay, Michigan - 3/25/04 - yada yada yada...

Now, the only thing that might lead me to believe that this is printed in error is that the photo shows Mr Meekhof housting his lunker while dressed in a short-sleeve shirt. I gotta think that it's still rather chilly in Michigan in late March, is it not?

Majority of the time you wouldn't be able to go out in short sleeves in March. Jerry

Heck, when I lived in Chicago, if it got into the high 40's in what we euphemistically called "Spring" .....we were out throwing a ball in the front yard. I think my blood thinned out when I moved to the South. - RichG manager, Carolina Skiff Owners Group on MSN http://groups.msn.com/CarolinaSkiffOwners .. RichG

Never. Jerry

That would also be a State record, and we would have heard about it everywhere. Jerry
