Rod an Reel question

Hi,

I am stationed in South Carolina and am relatively new to Bass fishing. = What would be a rod/reel combo for topwater plugs? What kind of action = should the rod have?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

You did't say if you want a casting or spinning combo. In either case, I suggest a moderate action rod and a reel with 6-10 pound test. The moderate action will help you not pulling the hook out of the mouth. Then go to a fast action. richardorsborn

If you go with a spinning outfit consider a 6' 6" rod although a 6' = would work fine. A Shimano 2000 or Daiwa 2000 (or equivalent 6-10lb) = spinning reel should work fine. Use high quality fishing line.=20

Why just topwater plugs?

I am sure everyone has their own opinion, but if I could have only ONE = rod and reel it would be a Medium Heavy Loomis SJ783 Mahogany (or Slate) = with a Daiwa Prodigy 2000 spinning reel.=20

Oops, did I start something?
