Opinions on boat purchase

Hey guys,

Was thinking about buying this boat for just kicking around the local lakes, little lighter to pull. How do you guys think this boat would fair in say a medium sized lake with waves no larger then, ohh, 2 footers. http://www.loweboats.com/fishboats/roughneck/R1652VT.html The largest lake I would probably take it on would be around 1200 Acres.

I was also looking at the 16 foot Sea Nymphs too, but they cost a bit more. Really didn't want to get into much more then around $3000.00 USD and wanted to stay in the 16 foot size that would still take a smaller motor around a 15 hp due to motor limitations on certain lakes. So if you guys know of a better deal that would get me fishing comfortably, post up a link and we'll have a look!

Things I'm looking for is a built in livewell, pedestal seats, casting deck, 16 footer, dry storage and tiller drive.

Any and all comments welcomed and appreciated!

I think that thing would be great for that. With a little extra work and riggin you could fish tourneys out of it. I would definitely get the steerihng console and rig it for a middle weight outboard. I run a 16' Whacko 2050-16 and in a pinch I have run 2' waves with it. My passenger takes a beating, but it does the job. Its not a dry ride, but if you don't get silly it will get you home. The boat pictured there would probably handle a lot worse with an experienced skipper at the wheel and a balanced load. It also looks to be pretty well layed out right out of the box. If you plan on adding some things to make it suit you it would be a pretty cool boat.

P.S. I fish ABA tourneys out of my aluminum from time to time.

OH yeah, I've already got plans and rotating one of my other boats out to make way for a nicer new one. I"ve got a Johnson 30hp tiller with a newer trolling motor and fish finder ready to go on it. I'm ready to do some customizing as soon as I get it. But as I said, the tiller I'm afraid is something I'm going to have to have, there's a couple lakes I go to each year and they do have a 10 hp limit so I don't wanna sacrice not going to them. I figure I can get a 15 hp motor and put the 9.9 stickers on it since there's not much difference cosmetically, I"ve seen it done. Otherwise I"ll mostly just be pushing water with all the weight I usually have, still might with a 15, dont' know. But yeah, thanx for the comments and input, it's very much appreciated!
