Q's for Pat Goff... or anyone else that can help.

1st: I've got a 23p x 13" prop currently on my 90hp motor. I've been threatening to replace it with a stainless for awhile now. Do you have any recommendations? How about a 4-blade? As of now, I'm getting right at 47mph at 5500rpm. I'm not looking for more speed, nor less than what I've got now. But, would like a little more hole shot when I've got a load and a full livewell.

2nd: I'm finally ready to replace the trolling motor. It came with the 43lb thrust Motorguide 12v. I've settled on a replacement, but do you know if the hole pattern on a Minn Kota Maxxum (70lb/24v) will be the same, or am I gonna have to drill new ones?

re the "hole pattern" If you DO find that they are different...one way to get around that is to make up a "mounting board". Take a piece of hardwood...drill it to fit your present hole pattern. Drill the opposite side of the board to fit your new hole pattern. Countersink the "new holes" and put SS T-nuts into the countersunk areas. Mount the board to the boat using the "old holes" and mount the trolling motor to the Mounting board using the "new holes" Rich

This is "anyone else" .....

a four blade will give you a better hole shot but less top end speed. Consider SmartTabs ( or any other tab system ) to get the stern up when taking off. Do a Google search and you will find many happy owners. I have them on both of my small boats.

Mount the board to the boat using the "old holes" .and then mount the trolling motor to the Mounting board using the COUNTERSUNK T-NUTS into the "new holes" ON THE BACKSIDE. RichG TX

There are four blade designs on the market that shouldn't compromise your top end, and give you superior hole shot and handling.

The bolt pattern will be different on the MinnKota, if you want to drill holes, that's up to you. There are some other ways to do it, aftermarket plates which will mount one to the other, and give you a little more support for that plywood backing on the Tracker.
