John Kerr Jr in the New Bassmaster!

And somehow I doubt you'll see him in here bragging about it...

John Sr's kid is a real expert in the field of trophy bass fishing it seems, maybe Sr. can talk him into joining us occasionally?

Group: rec.outdoors.fishing.bass Date: Mon, Jan 31, 2005, 3:51pm (CST+1) From: donwar@erols.com (go-bassn) And somehow I doubt you'll see him in here bragging about it... John Sr's kid is a real expert in the field of trophy bass fishing it seems, maybe Sr. can talk him into joining us occasionally? Warren = Warren, I'll talk to him and see if he will share with us.....but he is really kinda modest, and it takes some coaxing to get him to "go public". :) I didn't even know he was in Bassmasters this month..and we talk all the time. Most of the time I have to do a google search to find out what he's up to in his fishing stuff :). Guess I will have to go buy a copy...is it a good article? Last time he was in Bassmasters, I found out while I was waiting to get a haircut, and was browsing through the magazines...I stole it....you know, a proud PaPa <grin>.

You should be proud John, congrats. He's one of a handful of guys interviewed about CA giants. I like his thoughts on bedding bass...

What I am really waiting for is my grandson, Jordan, to make the Bassmasters :). He won the fishing derby year before last, and finished 2nd last year....next week is this years derby, and "gandpa" is rooting for his kid's kid! <grin>

Read that entire article (and sidebars) and am impressed with the size of fish these guys catch out there on the west coast, with apparent regularity. Very impressed.

Also found the "superbass" piece pretty informative too. I had never heard of an F1 hybrid, or Tiger bass until that article. Interesting reads, the whole lot of "big bass" stories this month in BM. Some of us aren't gifted enough to boat stringers full of fish concsistently and hence can't tourney fish worth a hoot, and tend to learn our lakes as best we can in search of the biggest ones in the lake. "Local" trophy fisherman if you will, as NC will not be producing a true "trophy" bass in my lifetime I don't think. No hybrids, Tigers or even Florida strain around these parts. Plain old, slow growing, northern black largemouth bass is all we have here. (And is maybe why we also Striper fish too? to tie into a truly large "bass" on occasion?) Maybe.

Funniest thing in the whole mag this month (IMO) the "set" of ESPN ads near the back on successive pages. Starts out "ESPN BASS Saturdays: 24 Hours of fishing", then "ESPN BASS Saturdays: 12 hours of fishing" and then finally, "ESPN BASS Saturdays: Ok, its not 24 hours of fishing, but it is 4 hoursblah blah" I thought it was a hoot.

I noticed the same thing in the article. I suppose with enough time working beds I would have figured it out, but I never even considered making sure not to block the path to deep water.

I know a group of guys that have all of the info I could ever use, so why should I spend my money to read it elsewhere? Jerry
