trolling motor question

I have a 16 ft canoe and want to put a motor on it. Are there any guides as to what thrust I should use? I have found a 55 lb thrust one but I am not planning on skining behind this, just some bass fishing on the local lake.

Thanks for any advise.

Hi Bruce I have used a 27 lb thrust minnkota for 5 seasons. Works well. I get my batteries at WalMart.

If I am right, more thrust doesnt translate into more top speed. That has to do with the shape of both your hull and the propeller.

One of the best things about a trolling motor on a canoe is that you can use it to hold position easily, even in a wind.

Good Luck Steve
