To Wrap or not Wrap............

How do you guys feel about the RodWrap Product? I have never used them but picked some up for a $1 each so any pros and cons before I start rapping...errrrrr wrapping would be appreciated.

My partner swears by them. What I find interesting is he has almost exclusively G-Loomis rods. I personally like the feel of the cork in my hand. Bob

I think they are great. The feel provides a consistent feel between rods, and you end up not gripping the rod as tight. They are especially good when your hands sweat or there is moisture in the air or raining. I also like to color code the rods for the weight of line that I'm using this helps when switching rods and/or baits quickly. Where did you get them for $1. That's a great price.

Is this similar to/same as Grip Tape used on tennis and racquet ball racquets?

It is very similar, but it is very thin, so it doesn't provide any padding, like you get in the thick tennis wraps. It feels like a thin leather grip and it a little tacky to give you a better grip. There isn't any sticky stuff on the inside, so it doesn't do anything to your rod handles. I like the feel of cork, but where you grip the rod, you are really gripping the reel seat, so this cover the real seat if wrapped correctly.

It doesn't sound like the same stuff that I use on racquet handles. Grip Tape is extremely thin, comes in a roll about 1 inch wide, and is similar in texture to cheesecloth. It is impregnated with a green or blue substance which, in combo with the texture, improves your grip without adding perceptibly to the handle's diameter.

Dang....just talked myself into trying Grip Tape on a rod or two!!
