Transducer clicks

I wonder if the clicking affects bass, especially on water that they haven't or rarely hear it? I am going to try my FF in a pond that I know has not had anyone running a FF in. Those clicks are noticable. Does anyone know of any articles regarding transducer clicking and if it affects bass? I doubt if there is anything out there but I am curious.

A quick Google search came up with a couple people asking the same questions, but I didn't see any difinitive answer. There were a couple long papers in PDF format that may have had some additional info... but they were rather long, and the pertinent data wasn't immediately apparent. Bob

I've gone right over the top of bass with two locators running and gotten them to bite, in less than two feet of water. Personally, I don't think it does have an effect. But I do know some guys that turn their locators off "just in case", while they're fishing shallow water. Steve

Not that I am anybody, by any stretch, but I agree with your assessment. I use mine in shallow water all the time, with no noticable affect on the fish. Some "white" papers that I've seen on it agree that either the bass cannot "hear" it, or they can "hear" it and simply aren't bothered by it. Given the noise that a basic Rat-L-Trap gives off, and fish bite them with great regularity around here, I'd say that I agree. Doesn't seem that rattling or clicking seem to bother them at all. YMMV. I'm pretty sure I remember an In-Fish piece 8 or 10 years back in which it was among the subjects that Doug Hannon was concerned about. I generally turn mine off when I'm flipping in the pads (but not in the nut or matted over milfoil -- strange quirk on my part, I guess). RichZ

Mine goes off in10 feet or less of water unless I am searching. My front is not nearly as noisey as my dash mount. Front Lowrance 45 back Lowrance LMS 240.
