Question about charging my battery with a Schumacher 10a
I bought a dual purpose battery at Bass Pro Shop recently and am not
sure exactly what setting I need to use on this charger. It has a
switch for deep cycle/mainanence and one for low maintenance. My
battery is a deep cycle but I don't believe it is maintenance free as
it has two ports at the top.The type of battery was Bass Pro Shop own house brand. |

| Also what is the difference between the 10am Full Aut/Manual charger
and the Ship 'n' Store 10a charger that Schumacher makes? Should I have
got a dedicated trickle charger? Not sure if this one is now that I
saw the side of the box which indicates that the intended use is for
regular charging, not trickle. |

| I would set the charger on deep cycle..if it has a automatic shut off
mode use that also.. I am sure you have instructions with read them.. I
don't think you need a trickle charger.. charge the battery after every
fishing trip.. |

| Wal Mart sells a deep cycle 10 am battery charger with automatic shut
off for about 30 bucks, that's about all you should need. |

| Thanks. My main confusion was that the setting for deep cycle
also says maintenance free which the battery isn't. But I used
that setting and noticed it dropped the amps down as it went (which
I guess is how these things work). I was just afraid it would charge
it too fast which from what I read wasn't optimum for deep cycle.
But I'm no expert on these matters so maybe I'm mistaken. |
