NADA price on boat

I'm in the market for a used aluminum bass boat. I've located a G3 185 boat with trailer and 50hp engine. I checked NADA on the boat and the asking price (from a dealer is on the high end of the Average Retail price. But when I complete the NADA questioner, it does not list an option to include a motor (50hp on the boat for sale). Does anyone know if I should then add the NADA price of the motor into the equation? If so, the retail price goes about $2000 more then the asking price of the boat.

It's a _great_ looking boat but at the most I only have about $5.3k to spend and this boat is listed at $6k. It's a 2001. I'm really looking for an older boat as to spend a little less. But it might be worth seeing what I can put together as this boat is very nice.

I really want to be able to get into a larger boat all at once. Even now I'm changing my plan a little to include selling my boat _after_ I buy the new one so that I won't be without a boat to fish from. I was going to try buying a Bass Tracker on ebay, as they go for much less, but after everyone talking about Bass Trackers, I'm thinking I might stay away from them. Still, they are closer to my price range and if it leaks a little, so be it.

But that G3 is just a _sweet_ boat. Two rod compartments up front and a 50hp engine. It's got nothing really added to it (trolling motor and two fish finders only) which is just the way I like it. Put a couple of rod straps on the deck and I'm ready to go!

When I went to test my theory on a known boat (my own 2002 G3 Pro 175) it had two **s and said it included the outboard and trailor. So who knows. Mine should'nt include the outboard value IMO since both 2 stroke and more expensive 4 stroke models were available for that hull model, that particular year. To have upgraded from my 2 stroke 60HP to the max size 75 (which was only available as a 4 stroke) would've added over $2000 to the package price IIRC. That was 1/6 the already nearly $12k asking price, so I passed. I also got the upgraded galvinized trailor, which was extra and doesn't seem to be factored in either. (I live near and fish the ocean/sounds/waterway too, galv. was a necessary upgrade IMO.)

My best guess is that the NADA site info doesn't not include the outboard value in the figure on your model if it is a Pro 185.

*MOST* of the time when you research a bass type boat, it will include trailer and motor, which it should list. A larger motor will increase the value.

NADA for most boats around here is typically 25-50% high on actual market value.

If you think it is too much money look in the newspapers and see what compatible boats in your area are selling for. Compare apples to apples. What I mean is what is teh dealer selling with the boat? Depth finder, trolling motor and etc. Make the dealer and offer, he may accept what you have just to move a boat. I not sure if you have any Travis boating centers near you but they are merging with a someone and all inventory must go. You may be able to get a deal from them on a used boat or even a new boat.
