OT: I've made it a week!

Forgive me here, but I just need to celebrate a little! Last Monday night at 11:pm I smoked my last cigarette!

One week, 8 minutes and 36 seconds. 140 cigarettes not smoked, saving $25.92. Life saved: 11 hours, 40 minutes.

Congratulations - but only 140 not smoked in a week. I was smoking 3 packs a day - that was a bad habit! Ronnie

When do you find time to breathe Ronnie? Seriously, if I've done my math right, that equals one cigarette every four minutes taking into account that you got 8 hours sleep.

Will do the math again to be sure.

Let's not start talking about grandchildren yet... They're cute and all, but I aint ready for that! Charles

way back then cigarettes came 20 to the pack - three packs a day = 60 a day. If I was awake for 16 hours a day, that is about four an hour. And way back then I could smoke at my desk while talking on the phone, so I usually had one burning. Ronnie

At various points in my 35 year smoking career, I was in the 3 pack a day range, although 2 was more common.

First of all, don't make the mistake of assuming 8 hours of sleep. Ronnie does the same thing for a living that I was doing full time in those days. My most productive hours were AFTER everyone else in the house went to sleep.

But the real key to 3pack+ a day smoking is that it's really 3pack+ LIGHTING. A couple drags, set it down in the ash tray, type a few words, light another one, then notice that the previous one is still burning in the ashtray.

I figure I've saved enough for a new Skeeter in the 10 years since I gave it up. So where's the damned boat?

I heard they are so much fun, you need to have them first. Calif

How the heck am I going to keep supporting my boating habit with you people quitting smoking. That Altria dividend is very nice. But congratulations on quitting smoking. Still enough idiots out there to keep some money coming my way. Calif

I'll just have to wait to prove that theory... Charles
