trolling motors on family boat
My boat has a pointed bow that we use to enter the boat from shore when
camping. There seems to be no room for a mounting plate for a trolling
motor.
Has anyone mounted the motor in a way that the front of the boat is still
accessible for boarding?Thanks in advance

| We had a 17 foot Larson Outdrive when I was a teenager - I loved to ski
- and I built a rack to fit over the front light to sit on and steer a
trolling motor with my foot. After I bought my first bass boat - in 1974
- my dad built a plywood deck that hooked down to the front cleates - it
had room for a swivel chair and a foot controlled trolling motor, and
easy to get in and out since the trolling motor was to the side. It
worked great for him and mom crappie fishing for years. |

| Is there any way you can post a picture somewhere so that we can see the
boat? There are a bunch of creative people here, and if we can see what you
have to work with, we might be able to give you some suggestions. |

| Don't know how it applies to your boat, but the trolling motor on my Waco is
on one side, and it works ok.

| Most trolling motors are mounted to the bow on the left side. There are
brackets that lift the motor out of the water and allow the motor to lay
down in a locked down mode. Try just lifting it straight up when docking
instead of laying it down. This would still give you access. Once on the
water and ready for traveling lay it down in the lock down position to
prevent damage from vibration. Sarge |
